The Colossus of Rhodes

Alexander the Great conquered many places, including the Mediterranean Island of Rhodes, which was part of ancient Greece.

Alexander died pretty young from an insect bite around 300 BC. His three generals split up his empire. All wanted the island of Rhodes. Rhodes was positioned perfectly to be a territory of trade.

The people of Rhodes supported General Ptolemy. Unfortunately, even though the general was successful in conquering Egypt, most of Greece was conquered by a different general. This general was infuriated that the inhabitants of Rhodes had not endorsed him. He sent his son to eradicate the city. His son was not triumphant. General Ptolemy sent an army from Egypt to give the townspeople a hand. Together, they drove the opposing army away.

With jubilation, the townspeople used the armor and war machinery left behind. They melted down the bronze, and used it to construct a colossal statue of their patron god, Helios, to show gratitude Helios for helping them save their city.

The sculpture was 110 feet tall and stood on a 50 foot foundation. Every morning, the sun glittered off the bronze plates that covered the statue. It must have been a stupendous sight! It only took about 15 years to assemble this mind-bogglingly astonishing statue, and the resources were almost completely free!

Just 56 years after the sculpture was built, it was Demolished by an earthquake. Nearly all of the pieces fell into the harbor. The statue's thumb was accessible. Many people traveled to observe the statue's thumb and to try and put their arms around it. The thumb was larger than their arms could stretch.

The ruler of Egypt offered the citizens of Rhodes funds to reconstruct the statue. But the townspeople rejected the offer. They were terrified that their god Helios had tossed the sculpture down in a fit of great rage. They decided to leave the statue exactly as their god had positioned it.

Many years later, around 600 BCE, Arab traders finally removed the remainder of the Colossus to use as scrap metal. Legend says ... it took 900 camels to transport the pieces home.

This ancient wonder encouraged other artists throughout time. A French sculptor based one of his most famous works of art on the Colossus of Rhodes. That work of art is still in existence today. It is in New York City. It is called The Statue of Liberty!

The Hobbit

The Hobbit is a book about a fancy creature who is persuaded to go on an adventure full of mystical and mythical creatures, forests mountains, and treasures. It is also the origin of the very popular Lord of The Rings series. The main characters are: Bilbo, Filly, Killy, Thorin, Bofur, Dwalin, Balin, and Gandalf.

I would give this book 4 out of 5 stars. When I think of this book I will always think of invisibility and stinging.

Christmas the Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Well since a few other people wrote Christmas posts I will to. In this post I will write not only about the good things about Christmas but also the bad and horrible.

Let’s start out with the good parts of Christmas. The good parts of Christmas are: getting, giving, seeing family and/or friends, and decorating the tree. Let’s start with getting. Now I know that Christmas spirit isn’t about getting it’s about giving. But I’m going to be honest here and tell you that I enjoy getting at least as much as giving (probably more). And I personally do not think it is something to be ashamed of. Plus if people didn’t enjoy getting as much (or more) as giving than there would be no point in doing either one either one.

Next is giving. Giving isn’t fun but still makes you happy. Ok so that probably doesn’t make since to most of you. Maybe I’ll explain in a different post sometime. When you give it gives you a nice feeling inside when the other person opens their present or presents. The happiness of watching someone open there gift or gifts is usually fuelled by excitement. In the bad section I will explain what happens when the effects of giving backfire.

After that is seeing family and/or friends. Seeing family and/or friends is fun, exiting, and happiness producing. One good thing about seeing family and/or friends is that it doubles the effects that come from giving and getting. Aside from this factor of enjoyment there is also a strong and unexplainable happy feeling that comes from getting together with people on Christmas day.

And finally we come to decorating the tree. Decorating the tree can also be associated with giving/getting. It is not a fun thing to do for some people but to a lot it is fun because of the opportunity to express creativity in a way that cannot be done in everyday life.

I would continue except for the fact that I’m super tired of writing. And plus ruining your Christmas with bad facts is none of my business.

For many of us educational subjects such as history, physics, and spelling are boring. This is because when we think of education we think of horrible lectures and tests. If we thought of usefull skills and exciting action packed war scenes we would love them.

To try to change someone's opinion on that with another lecture is ridiculous. Instead direct them to useful video games. Yes, thats right, video games. You see, many video games are educational. Many of these games you might have heard of. "Angry Birds" uses physics and so does "Crush the Castle" and many others. Many games related to war are their own history lessons. Spelling games are harder to find but for the best one ever try "Bookworm Adventures".

Shale

Well I’m finally writing again and this time about shale.

Shale is a smooth sedimentary rock made of mud that is a mix of clay minerals and tiny parts of other minerals such as quartz and calcite.

Although shale is usually gray it can also be: red, brown, green, and black. Minerals that make this rock more colorful are: hematite which makes it red, goethite which makes it brown, and chlorite, biotite or illite which make it green.

Shale is formed by the rock cycle. The particles that make shale can stay in water long after the larger particles of sand have formed into sediment. Shale is usually formed in very slow moving water and is usually found in lakes and rivers.

Obsidian

Well my teacher decided that agate was not an igneous rock. So I have to choose another rock to write about. And if agate is not an igneous rock than my favorite igneous rock is obsidian.

I am not sure where obsidian originated but know that it was used in nearly everything in ancient history. Some of these uses include: arrow heads, blades, plates, and even a carved pig. Today it is used for blades used in surgery and the base for record players.

After writing about quartz I think I should write about something similar, agate. Agate is a microcrystalline type of silica. It can be found in all sorts of rocks but the rocks they are in the most are volcanic and metamorphic rocks.

Agate was first discovered sometime in-between the third and fourth centuries by a Greek philosopher and naturalist named Theophrastus. Theophrastus discovered this rock by the river Achates.

Anciently it was used in the art of hardstone carving. It has been found in many ancient sites. One of these sites was mount Knossos. There it was used to illustrate Bronze Age Minoan culture.

The reason I said it was similar to quartz is because it is a type of quartz! You see agate is a formation of chalcedony which is a type of quartz. Agate is very colorful and is in all sizes.

My mom asked me to write about another mineral today. This time I chose quartz. Quartz is the second most common mineral on earth. It is made out of silicon–oxygen tetrahedra or Sio4. There are quite alot of kinds of quarts. Some of these are: amethyst, citrine, Prasiolite and, many others. Some of theme are precious gemstones.
In the middle east quartz is the most commonly used material in the making of jewelry. It usually comes in very large sizes. Also as most of it knows it is used to make glass. Sorry but that little amount was all I could find.

My Favorite Animal

I have been assigned to write a post about my favorite animal.

My favorite animal is a wolverine.

Although wolverines are giant weasels they are also the most powerful mammal in the world. Wolverines are also the size of snoopy. They can defend against : wolf packs, cougars, and grizzly bears. In summer it eats both healthier foods like : berries, roots, and all kinds of plants. And animals like : rodents, rabbits, deer, caribou, and elk. One thing that’s different about wolverines is that unlike other mammals only the females and kids hibernate. The males go around and kill other animals while they are hibernating for food. Personally I think this is a great strategy. It’s fur can resist water which keeps the wolverine immune to the cold. People have tracked wolverines 60-80 kilometers in cold mountains that’s a long distance. Strangely the wolverine is extremely good at climbing trees and swimming. Wolverines mark their territory and their catches with a special smell they launch out of their body. Wolverine babies will grow up with their mom’s until they grow up to be two years old (an adult age for a wolverine).

Just so you know I read this book during summer vacation.

Powerless by Mathew Cody is a book about a kid named Daniel who moves to a strange town to be near his grandmother. Almost as soon as he moves in strange things start happening. And though most kids can’t figure out what’s going on Daniel has the mind of a detective and very soon discovers that a lot of the other kids have super powers. This was supposed to be a secret so Daniel did not tell anyone. He soon made friends with the other kids and played with them in their hide-out after school. Things get interesting when Daniel learns that when a kid with superpowers turns thirteen he loses his powers and his memory. Some of the super kids think it’s just a coincidence but others think differently. And when Daniel decides to spy on someone with superpowers when he turns thirteen he discovers that someone is doing it. Later on in the book there are some pretty cool fights. I cannot reveal anymore because this book is partially a mystery. The thing I will remember most about this book is a shadowy figure with the power of darkness.

Organics and the Dangers they Possess

Two years ago all the food in my life was ruined because of a certain thing called organic. It all started out when my mom watched a very disgusting but persuasive movie. Afterwards she was convinced that the lies that movie possessed were not lies but truths. I must admit the way that movie talked about it the more truthful it seemed. Even I was convinced at first.

The movie talked about how a lot of the foods we now eat are genetically modified or sometimes processed. They say it causes all sorts of health problems. And now you should buy the special organic foods. Well the whole movie was obviously propaganda. I will now give you five reasons why organic food is a total rip off.

i. No matter what that movie may have said the fact is that if you eat a non-organic breakfast with bacon, egg, sausage, cheese, and bread it is no less healthy than an organic breakfast with bacon, egg, sausage, cheese, and bread. And it’s the same thing with any other type of food.

ii. It costs double as much and tastes way worse too.

iii. It is much more work at home preparing the meal.

iv. It gives you half the food choices you would normally have

v. It expires way sooner.

So never ever buy organics!

Pyrite

My teacher gave me an assignment to write a post on a mineral. I chose pyrite because it’s as good looking as gold and it’s about two times harder. As most of us know pyrite is also called fool’s gold because throughout history all sorts of people (mainly pirates and miners) thought they hit gold and got rich when really they just hit a rock that looked the same. Though if you ask me pyrite seems just as good as gold if not better. Because for those of you who don’t know gold is only a hardness of 2½ - 3 which is extremely soft when pyrite is a hardness of 6.5 which is pretty hard.

One cool thing about pyrite is that if you hit it with something hard a spark will shoot out. Though pyrite's true crystal form is in the shape of a cube, it sometimes will break down into many shapes and formations. Like gold, pyrite's color is golden. Pyrite is metallic and brassy. Unlike gold it is hard and it snaps easily. I will return with info. on some other rock soon i'm guessing.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is an odd and inexplicable book. It starts out when a lawyer by the name of Mr. Utterson takes a walk with his cousin Mr. Enfield. During the walk Mr. Enfield tells Mr.Utterson something he saw the other day. He told him how he saw a man, short and stubby, who for no reason trampled a little girl by walking on top of her on the way to his house. He said he then called for help and when he did so he saw the man’s horrifying and superiorly malevolent face. When the townspeople arrived they threw a huge fit. To calm them down the man went into a mystifying door but when he came back he was Dr. Jeykll with one hundred pounds.
He then told him that the evil man’s name was Edward Hyde.

That night out of curiosity Mr.Utterson, being his lawyer, decided to view Dr. Jekyll's will. He was horrified to find out that in his will it said he would give everything he had to Mr. Edward Hyde. Afterwards there is an exciting chain of events. But I cannot reveal anymore for if I did it would ruin the book.

The Red Badge of Courage

The Red Badge of Courage is a book about a coward, soon to be an out of control mad man in the Civil War. Henry Fleming is bored and wants a fight. But when that fight finally happens things aren’t looking so good so he runs away. Later he wants to figure out what happened. Then a cowardly but psycho soldier fatally wounds him by smashing his gun on Henry’s head. After that everything makes him want to kill someone and in the next battle he goes crazy and fires his gun for way too long of a time span while pointlessly glaring and yelling. Heck, after every one was killed he was still pointlessly firing and yelling at the top of his lungs. For some reason while reading these parts of the book a tune popped up inside of my head that went, "Burn Baby Burn Baby Burn Baby Burn" with the background music of Kiss’s "I want to rock’n roll all night".

Though the first part of the book seemed pretty bad, later on it got great. I know it sounds dumb for the thing I remember most about this book to be something that never happened in this book. But the thing I remember most about this book is my mind playing the tune "burn baby burn".

How to blog a good blog

Since there are a lot of blogs I visit on the blogging challenge and a lot of them are new, I'm going to explain how to have a good and succsesful blog.

Oh by the way the blogging challenge is really nice. It really helps you get started!

There are a lot of things that make your blog better but to me one of the most important things is to be yourself. I will now add a short poem I wrote.

To have a good blog express yourself
show your opinion just yourself’s
Who cares what people may say to you
you are a human and super too
be yourself who you truly are
then people will know you and happy you are.

A lot of kids have said online that their favorite thing in the world is math. If you like math that's fine. But if you hate math don't say you like it.

So I guess it’s up to you. Do you want to have less comments or be known worldwide as some one who loves math?

Another thing that makes a good blog is having really fun games on your blog. If your blog is an educational one like mine put some educational games on it like I did on mine. The way I did it was I made a game tab. Another way to do it is to occasionally post about a game you found.

I hope I had good advice!

Once upon a time there lived a mighty lion and a stealthy snake.Though the lion was more powerful, he obeyed the snake.

One day the lion caught a deer. When the lion took the first bite, the snake screamed at him to let him eat it instead. The lion did so for an unknown reason.

The next few days the same thing happened. So one day the lion grew weaker, and then the next day the snake overpowered him. The lion screamed “NO!!!!!”

Then the snake ate him…. “FOOL!” the snake then yelled.

Lesson: never obey a weaker person!

Odysseus in the Serpent Maze

Odysseus in the Serpent Maze, by Jane Yolen, is a book about a young boy named Odysseus who wanted adventure. This story takes place in Greece many millennia ago. The main character Odysseus is bored and wants adventure. Things get interesting when he and his friend and to other kids get stranded in the ocean. In the end they land in Crete and have to go inside the labyrinth! Just kidding (though that does happen). In the end they get back home. This is a good book but is a bit cheesy at times and I give it 7 out of 10 stars. I liked how they got into Daedelus’s workshop. But did not like all the cheesy parts. The thing I will remember most about this book is the ocean.

My favorite food

Today I am going to talk about my favorite foods. My two favorite foods are Euros and Sashimi. Now you have probably never heard of them but they are the most delicious, delectable, mouth-watering, luscious food I’ve ever tasted (besides desert). Well sashimi is Japanese for raw fish, though that sounds nauseating something about it has a almost magical taste about it. Though there are a lot of kinds of sashimi my favorite kind that I’ve tried is Toru. Toru is also called yellow fin. Toru is pink and is very good with Ponzu sauce. My other favorite food is different but extremely delicious. Gyros look like burritos but are 1000 times better. Gyros are Mediterranean food. My favorite kind of gyro is beef but I also like chicken. I think the thing that makes a gyro so mouth-watering is the secret sauce. Hope you get the chance to try them.

Frankenstein

Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley, is a book about an awesome battle between a young scientist and a monster he actually created! This story takes place in Geneva, Switzerland. The main character, Victor Frankenstein, figures out away to create life. He immediately starts collecting materials to try it out, but when he finally does it, instead of creating a human he creates a monster! Things get interesting when the monster turns evil! In the end the monster kills himself out of guilt. This is a cool book and I give it 7 out of 10 stars. I liked all the suspense but did'nt like how he killed himself so there was no awesome battle. The thing I will remember most about this book is black fingernail marks!

The Great Brain

The Great Brain by John D. Fitzergerald is about three brothers. One of the brothers is amazingly smart. In this book it talks about the second brother’s great brain and how he uses it. This story takes place in Adenvile, Utah 1886. Things get complicated when the second brother Tom uses his great brain in mischievous ways. In the end he decides to be nicer. This is a great book and I give it 9 out of 10 stars. I liked everything in the book besides one thing...The chapters were way too long!!! The thing I will remember most in this book is Tom’s great brain.

In 1912 a man named Alfred Wagner discovered that millions of years ago there was only one gigantic continent that he named it Pangaea. He also discovered that millions of years ago there was only one giant ocean he named panthalassa. But when he tried to tell people they did not believe him. His theory was based on another theory called plate tectonics. according to plate tectonics the earths crust is split into seven to twelve big plates and a few small ones. The plates move by spreading apart, sliding, or colliding. They move 2-15 centimeters a year. When the plates move continents slowly drift.

     During his vacation Obama says that he'll think about how to increase job rates in a few weeks (after his vacation). CRUD WE'VE GOT A DUMB PRESIDENT....THE COUNTRY IS RAPIDLY LOSING JOBS ALONG WITH A BILLION OTHER THINGS AND OBAMA TAKES A HUGE VACATION AND SAYS HE'LL THINK ABOUT IT AFTER VACATION (AFTER A FEW WEEKS)...IT'S EMBARRASSING TO HAVE HIM AS A PRESIDENT!!!!!

   The air force kicks out a hero because of doubting Obama's citizenship. Well, so much for America having the freedom of speech.

I'M BACK TO BLOGGING!!!.....My first post this year is titled, E.S.R.B....THE DUMBEST COMPANY EVER CREATED!!!!!!!!

Have you ever had trouble with your parents about not being able to play a video because of it's rating...Well if you have, show your parents this post.

The rating of a video game is published by a company called E.S.R.B. Though there are other rating systems that do a much better job, the government had to choose the worst company of all. E.S.R.B has rated multiple things the wrong thing.

For instance, Tom and Jerry - War of the Whiskers is rated T. Medal of Honor European assault (an educational history game where you can play through the lessons) is rated T and so is Medal of Honor Frontline.
Though the medal of honor games may look harsh they have less stuff than an ordinary lego game. One finale example is that most super hero games are rated T.

Ted Rage was probably the greatest western sheriff of all time. I don't know allot about him yet cause I just started the online book/video game . In this program you read a chapter about one of his challenges then you play the chapter.Whether it's dueling some of the big outlaws who will also be talked about in the chapters, fighting in city's taken over by western gangs, or just choosing what you need to take on the next outlaws it is a fun challenge. Raving Rabbits is a fun game. You have to pay to get it on Wii. But on the computer it is free.
Believe it or not this game is educational.
The story of the game is that a bunch of angry rabbits traveled back in time and started making chaos where ever they landed. You are the angry rabbits and throw explosive rolls of toilet paper at people. You start out harassing cave-men by blowing them up. After 9 hard levels the rabbits go a little bit forward in time to ancient Egypt and do the same thing. These levels are the ones I am stuck on. But I checked witch levels are locked and after nine Egyptian levels you go into the medieval times. Recently there have been year-ruining things in my life. A lot of these things can relate to rights. Today I am going to talk about rights. Though rights seem like a simple subject it is actually a very complicated one.

First I am going to talk about educational rights.

The right to education is a human right. According to the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights the right to education includes the right to go to public school free. If you are home-schooled it also includes proving that you are learning enough. To read more about the right to education go to wikipedia's long essay .

In 1776 there was a revolution against the British. On July 4, 1776 the revolutionists wrote a declaration. As you read it notice how many times they talk about rights.

Here it is :

When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

and was hated by his brother. His brother Seth killed him while he was napping. Osiris then landed in the under world and called became king of the dead and replaced Anubis.

Seth is pronounced Set.
Seth is awesome if you don't believe me read this paragraph. Seth is the deity of : desert, storms, foreigners, darkness, and chaos. Though he is awesome he too was killed this time by Horus who cut Seth's eye out.

Horus

Horus was the sun of Osiris but was Ra's mini-me that means he was almost identical to Ra. The picture to the right shows how he destroyed seth.

A Vacation that is to long.

Sora V.S Iron-Man

I made a cool short-film called Sora VS. Iron-Man. A short-film is a cartoon that is really short. This short film is a battle scene between two characters. The first character is a boy named Sora. Sora is the main character in most of the games in a series called Kingdom Hearts. This series is very fun although Sora is obnoxious. The other character you probably know from movies. He's Iron-Man. One cool thing about this short-film is that I have done special programing to make it so that it is different every time you watch it! WATCH IT NOW BY SCROLLING DOWN! How to do basic animations

Today I am going to write about animating. Animating is one of my favorite things to do when I get bored. For those of you who don't know what animating is, it is the art of creating things such as cartoons, special effects, and video games.
There are many programs used to animate. My favorite of course is scratch. To download scratch click here. What I really want to do is try to teach people how to animate. First of all once you have downloaded scratch it will show up the program and will look like this.

Click on the backgrounds button and design your main menu but don't draw the buttons yet. Go back and focus on a bar that says "new sprite". Click on the paint brush or the folder. The paint brush is for designing your own animated object or character. The folder is for importing it. Here you design your buttons.

It is important to know that to command the characters you must create a script. To do this you drag the objects on the left to the empty area, then connect them by dragging one underneath another. To see what one script-building object does, right click on it and then click on help.

One last thing I'm going to tell you about i s costumes. To make an animated object do almost anything, you need their costumes of that action to do it. Making costumes is really hard...So if I were you I would take it from other websites. My favorite is pupp's free stuff.

Good morning. Today I am going to talk about space travel. To start out I'll talk about past missions. It all started out in 1961. At that time John F. Kennedy was president of the United States. That year in May he announced that the U.S would send a human to the moon. It took eight years to build the shuttle. The commander was an American named Neil Armstrong. When he landed on the moon he said "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
Astronauts go to space a lot because if they didn't there wouldn't be blogging, the Internet, or GPS. What they do is they drop a satellite in space and any time you write a post, make a blog, or get an online map the satellite sends the signals all around the world.
Some people thing it is fun going in space. But it is actually terrible. You see when you first enter zero gravity, your body gets in a big shock and you usually barf. I hoped you learned something, bye.

    Once upon a time on the animal planet it was every creature's ambition to fight until death. If they won they would receive hundreds of pounds worth of thorium (their currency). Though there were many things to buy, all of the warriors bought only the things that would win a fight. For a long time the battles were equally matched.

     But things changed when three champions arose named: Sheep Li Fu, Boarhide Trader Pigus, and the best of them all, Spawn Ike Darkerie. Although Sheep Li Fu was unarmed he had martial arts skills better then any other. He was a short white sheep with a terrible temper and if he thought some body cheated, that somebody would never see the light of day again. Boarhide Trader Pigus carried a funny looking enchanted rake, got free magic spells because of his long lasting friendship with a little fat kid who had an unknown name, and Pigus wore a stupid metal skirt. Spawn Ike Darkerie was a fully armored wolverine who carried a fully automatic machine gun and a soul taking scythe. Many tried to defeat these champions and were: crushed, destroyed, vanquished, knocked out of the universe, or decimated.

    Things were terrible until a Squirl had baby named Squeakius. One day Squeakius's dad called him a wimp. Squeakius raged out of control and nearly killed him. In fact he would have killed him if not deciding to kill Mr. Shiver the ice cream man instead. Two months later he got sent to little death (the junior arena) where he met the three champions kids. The champions kids taunted Squeakius and as punishment Squeakius completely decimated, vanquished, and destroyed them. Squeakius killed everybody he fought in little death.

     Finally when Squeakius turned twelve he was sent to fight Sheep Li Fu. At the battle the crowd was the largest it had been in a thousand years. Squeakius and Sheep Li Fu calmly waited for the judge to say go. Finally the moment came and the second the judge said, "Go!"   Sheep Li Fu did a flying ninja kick that almost always hit the opponent somewhere. With a proud and devious look he waited for the sound of death.

    Unfortunately for him Squeakius stepped to the side and Sheep Li Fu crashed in to the wall and split his head open. Bored to death, Squeakius grabbed Sheep Li Fu by the neck and threw him out of their galaxy and to this day nobody knows where he is. Squeakius took his thorium and challenged Boarhide Trader Pigus. Because Squeakius had defeated Sheep Li Fu, Pigus accepted.

    When the match started Pigus tried smashing Squeakius. Squeakius simply grabbed the rake, hit him in the privates to distract him and then cut his head off. Squeakius left the arena and found Spawn Ike Darkerie glaring at him. To Darkerie's surprise Squeakius wasn't scared. Squeakius deviously grinned back and said "I've been looking for you I'm glad you've come to get decimated".

    Then Darkerie said with a gangster accent "My boys have been destroyed and it's you're fault. It's time to die!" and shot his machine gun 20 times. Squeakius ran over and pulled Darkerie's pants down to make him mad. With a roar of laughter, Darkerie tried punching him. Squeakius ran up his arm and poked him in the eye ten times. Darkerie now could not see. So Squeakius took his gun and shot him in the heart.

     The warriors rejoiced. Until they realized things were still the same only now Squeakius was the champion.

An awesome yard

Greetings. Recently I've been playing in my yard with friends... So today I'm going to talk about my yard and the playable areas around it. To start out I'll talk about my front yard.

The front yard looks practically empty when you first see it. But the front yard leads to some fun places. When you walk down the stairs you will come to a flat platform with paths all around you. If you take the left path you will find an outdoor metal hut called a gazebo. Normally it is a very fun place to be. But right now it is colonized by black widows (poisonous and deadly spiders). When it gets sunnier I'm gonna bring out the hose and kill all those wretched arachnids.

If you keep going you'll be in a place that looks like a shrinked rain forest. Let's go back to the big flat step. If you take the right path you'll find that it is extremely adventurous but also very fun. When you've passed the path you will see two swings bolted into an oak tree. These swings may not look like it, but they are actually the most wild swings I've ever been on. When you're done, slide down a hill that's next to the swings. When you're done you'll be at the end of our ginormous drive way. Start to make you're way up and you'll find a trampoline. You could jump on it or you could fight on it!!! As it mentions in my profile I love to fight.

When you're done you'll probably go down the green stool. But if you jump off the back (which doesn't hurt once you get used to it) you'll come across a gigantic bush that is so fun to go in. Afterwords when you come up the drive way you'll look down and see a huge netted cage called a batting cage. Although it belongs to some of our neighbors they let us play in it any time we want.

When you go up the driveway you'll find you'll come a cross a big hill. If you climb all the way up you'll be at our other neighbor's house. Go behind the house, slide down the other end of the hill and you're in the wild with hundreds of places to explore. One day when I was exploring there I saw a coyote chasing a rabbit. Full of excitement I dashed back, grabbed my metal bat, and started hunting. Unfortunately they were already gone. When you come back to our yard go northwest or southeast and find either my garden, my mom's, or my brothers' (Jakob and David).

Last but not least when you go to the back or front door hot and sweaty you'll see a fence. If you go in you'll find our nice cold lap pool and our nice warm (cold when not heated) spa. Go inside and get your swimming suit. Then finish your journey with a nice cool swim. I LOVE OUR YARD!!!

Educational games

Recently I have found a couple of educational games. So today I am going to write about them. The first game I want to write about is called Achilles. As you might have guessed this is based on Homer's books The Iliad and The Odyssey. This game completely follows the poems. In it you are Achilles and you are fighting the Trojans. The arrow keys move and T or Y attack. Usually you are fighting ordinary Trojans. But every three levels you fight one of the strongest Trojans in Troy.
The next game is called Swords &Sandals. It is a gladiator game. There are three of these games. So what you should do is skip the first. Then play the tutorial of the second. Finally play the funnest one, the third. Also they say it's not the full version but it's still funner then the funnest. It is also important to know that a few things in this game didn't happen in history. For instance, the gladiators were not creatures and they did not have guns or magic. I hope you enjoy these games. HAVE FUN!!!

The U.S. and its Government

     Today I am going to talk about the U.S government and how it's changed. To start out lets think back to 1776. In that time the Pilgrims had been living happily in their new land but still had to pay taxes to the British government. So they decided to write a declaration and revolt. Most of you know that this (declaration) was called the Declaration of Independence. In it, it says: When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

     In this point of history it seems perfect and happy. But you will find that later on in American history things are: imperfect, dishonest, terrible, and unhappy. Now lets think back to the revolution. A great general named George Washington became president after the revolution's success. After that things went well until 1861. At that time Abraham Lincon was president. Also it is important to know that, ignoring the Declaration of Independence, U.S. citizens still owned slaves. They were ignoring the Declaration of Independence because in the Decleration of independance it specifically says that humans are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. Hello! Slaves didn't have liberty! This started a civil war. Wait a minute, a civil war! How could that have happend with their (great) plans! But this is just the beginning.

    Next lets go to the First World War. At that time the U.S. was the most powerful country in the world. Meanwhile, the world was destroying itself and what did the U.S do?  Nothing! Finaly the Germans sunk an innocent U.S ship, so the U.S declared war on Germany. Of course they won very quickly. I mean they were the strongest country in the world.

     After that the U.S people were lazy and brainless. They wasted all of their money on stocks which usually got them more money. But eventually the stock market crashed and every no-brained citizen lost all their money. And once again, what did the U.S government do?  Nothing! I mean every now and then they might lower prices or something but nothing that had a chance to help at all. Today the U.S government is : lazy, arrogant, selfish, and completely dishonest. Plus they still do nothing about emergencies.

The History of England

Now, England has been one of the most powerful and successful countries in the world. So I'm going to write this post on how it was created.You may think that England was never taken over.If so you are absolutely incorrect. England was completely taken over all the way back in the fifth century.Back then there were three unpopular tribes : the Angles, the Saxons, and the Jutes. These tribes all had very little land. So they all teamed up to conquer a big territory, that was at that time populated by a later parted group of people we now call the Scottish, the Irish, and the Welsh. A website calledwikimedia.com has a online map of there invasion.

The three tribes became known as the Anglo-Saxons and there land was called England.

The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane

There is a book that has the plot of a child's fairy tail called The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. It's about a selfish toy bunny and how he learns to love. Now even though it has a stupid plot it has some good parts, for instance: in one chapter an old lady tells an absolutely hilarious fairy tail with an anti-happy ending. Though there were a lot of parts that I hated, and if you're a man or a boy you probably will too, it's still worth reading. Also they're making a movie about it and its coming out in October. Once upon a time on a planet called Pistonia, Aliens called pistons were ruled by King David or Mr. John Capes. During this time there was a war with a race just as powerful called the Jamiasonians. This race had already taken over galaxies and galaxies and did punish many pistons. Because of this they were called the piston punishers. But the pistons were strong and could not be taken over easily…So the unknown piston punisher king destroyed the planet. All of the pistons accept the king strangely disappeared . The king used one of his piston powers to land safely on earth. There he met an unknown king named Jakob. That is the origin of the piston king.

I love video games as all sorts of people do…So I thought I would give you some advice on which ones to buy. One of the first things to know is that Esrb and its ratings are brainless. The United States’ friends in the region have begun to fall like dominoes as protests proceed from the Suez in Egypt to Amman in Jordan, then the collapse of the rule of law in Tunisia. The question that appears on the minds of almost everyone is "What will happen next?" However, complete understanding of what is happening behind the scenes is not scary to people there.

World War II is I guess you could say more popular than World War I. It all started out when Germany had to pay billions of dollars. The Germans were completely angry. So a man named Adolf Hitler decided to gather followers (soldiers) and decided to take over the world. At first it was unknown to other countries but they found out soon enough some countries attacked others were also phsyco and joined Germany. So it became a world war. This was one of the most devastating wars but also one of the most interesting. So here are some videos and games.

The history of weapons

Weapons are always cool to watch in movies but we never really know what weapons came when. So I thought I'd tell you. One of the first weapons we know of in history is a polished stone axe which looked something like this.

Around fifty thousand years ago a caveman invented a weapon we now call a bow and arrow and became the greatest hunter in the world at that time. For many years after he died the bow and arrow was forgotten then finally in fifteen hundred b.c Asian solders used it in battle.

Mean while in Assyria eight-hundred-and-fifty b.c a weapon called the battering ram is invented. Later in Macedonia three-hundred-and forty b.c the catapult is invented. In two-hundred and fifty b.c the Chinese invent the crossbow although many years past by before it was used in Europe. thousands of years later (thirteen-twenty-seven a.d) the first blueprint of a cannon is drawn. In the fourteen century pistols are invented. Only a few years later the musket was made by parts of the pistol. In France around sixteen-ten a.d an inventor invents the bayonet and makes lots of them for the army. In Prussia 1848 a gunsmith named Johann Nikolaus Von Dreyse invents a gun called the needle gun witch can load faster than most guns. In 1884 guns were still very slow so a British inventor named Hiram Maxim invents the machine gun. Things weren't going so well with boats at that time so a few years later the Germans invented the submarine which was at that time called a u-boat. Even though the machine gun was fully automatic it was way too heavy. So in 1911 Isaac Newton invented a lighter version of the machine gun. During world war two the Germans had many dams. This made it pretty hard for the British to fight. So in 1942 a British engineer named Barnes Wallis invented a bomb than bounced. In 1942 the Japanese kept on sending pilots that would commit suicide for there country. This was driving the U.S nuts. So a physicist named J. Robert Oppenheimer was sent on a project too build a nuclear weapon. His project was successful and was used to attack Tokyo. This covers most of the history of weapons. I hope you enjoyed it.

Narnia

I like Narnia. I have read the first two books and some of Prince Caspian. Although the first Narnia movie is The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe the first book is The Magicians Nephew. This is one of the biggest and most dim-witted mistakes the makers of the movies have ever made. Some of the music in the first two movies is the pits. It sounded like it was from a ballet dance. Prince Caspian (the second movie) had some awful, terrible, nasty, atrocious, ghastly, and extremely insufferable acting. Besides that it was great. The third movie was great. They fired the cheese ball that played Prince Caspian, took out all the corny music, and added in comedy. Narnia’s the best.

I love scratch. Scratch is an animation designer, a video game designer, and a kids facebook combined. So after you create an animation or video game you can create a scratch account for free and post your project online. There are probably thousands of people on Scratch, each with at least one animation or video game posted. You can look at anyone else's animations and communicate with them in ways such as : commenting, talking, examining, and even creating together. If you really like someone you can invite them as a friend. Scratch rocks!!!

Point Blank

Point Blank by Anthony Harowitz is a great Alex Rider sequel about when Alex Rider gets sent to an inexplicable school. This story takes place in two places, London and Paris, France. When Alex Rider arrives at Point Blank DR.Grief and Mrs.Stellenboch (the principal and assistant principal) don’t suspect a thing but Alex thinks there’s something mystifying going on. Things get crazy and vicious when Alex Rider gets caught by two psycho teachers (DR.Grief and Mrs.Stellenboch). To find out more read Point Blank.

Yesterday I went to Lego Land. I'd rate it 5 out of 10 stars. There was only really one good ride that was worth going on. It was called Project x something...something...well I don't quite remember. But any way we saw a movie with the best 4-d ever!!! They also had a lot of life-size Lego things in it including: cities, people, and wonders of the world. I love Lego land

In real life this would be pretty easy but in this cartoon people are really stupid.

The little alien wants everybody even his leaders to give him attention. This does not really happen. One of the most hilarious characters in this cartoon is the alien’s robot Gir. Here is a funny clip of him.

Calvin is known for his bad grades. He has created many things only he knows how to use. His teacher is Miss Wormwood. He founded and lead the G.R.O.S.S (a club founded to get rid of slimy girls).

Calvin has friends, only they’re not normal people. For instance, he likes to bargain with aliens. His main friend is Hobbes, a living tiger. Hobbes does pounce on him but he also plays with him and helps with his dumb school assignments.

Calvin is a nemesis of many people. For example, there’s Rosalyn (his baby sitter).One of his worst enemies is Susie, his idiot class mate. The reason they created the G.R.O.S.S was to get rid of her. He also hates most of the kids in his class.

He has invented many things. For instance he and Hobbes invented the Transfigmofier (sorry if I spelled it wrong). The first version of the Transfigmofier is a cardboard box but when you go inside it you choose what you want to be. Press a button and zap!!! You’re transformed. He also created a Duplicator with an ethicator (a thing that gives you a choice if you want it to be good or bad). This machine also is a cardboard box. To duplicate you just choose if you want it to be good or bad and zap!!! You’ve got a duplicate.

Matthew Perry

Matthew Perry was born the son of a navy captain named Christopher R. Perry. Perry later commanded the USS Shark a schooner with 12 guns from 1821-1825. In June 1840 Perry received the title of commodore from the secretary of the navy. Before that of his voyage to the Far East, Commodore Perry read widely amongst available books about Tokugawa, Japan. His research even included consultation with the increasingly well-known Japanologist Philipp Franz von Siebold, who had lived on the Dutch island of Dejima for eight years before retiring to Leiden in the Netherlands. In 1853 Perry offered a treaty with Japan which they denied. So Matthew Perry said if they did not sign they would burn down some of the most important buildings of Japan. How did it end? They signed in 1854.

When Perry returned to the United States congress voted to give him a $20,000 in appreciation of his work in Japan.

Cotton is from a plant. It is thousands of years old and it makes most of what we wear. It also makes bedding. It was originally harvested painfully because it was harvested by hand. Before being cleaned it has dirt on it. It also has leaves on it. This means it is very dirty. So in the late 1700s Eli Whitney invented a machine that cleans cotton. Now cotton is still used on a lot of things. Cotton is extremely important.
